Route 66 Hotel, the friendly French chambre d'hote and Bar, (thats Bed and Breakfast in English) In picturesque Bussiere Poitevine, approx. 300 miles south of Caen and 450 miles from Calais.

In 2002 we bought this magnificent building after it lay empty and unloved for 15 years. Planning and renovations took a further two years. The original 11 bedroom hotel was built in 1883 and has had many uses in its history, it was last used as a hotel in 1925 when it was bought by Jean Baptiste Desplobins who owned the first telephone and also the first lorries in the village. (The telephone number at that time was simply, no 1) The barns were then extended to house his lorries and a huge enclosed courtyard was created. The barns now house our licensed bar which is excellent for parties or functions.

All our bedrooms have different themes and many have original features. We have a selection of double or single rooms with either en-suite or shared facilities - let us know your requirements.

We are only a few minutes walk from the center of the market town of Bussiere Poitevine with its quaint restaurants and shops, including a fine Boulangerie selling delicious home made cakes and bread. If it is property you are looking for, then the Estate Agents are on the same road as us and only 5 minutes walk away. With our extensive knowlege of planning and building we are in a good position to advise you on your own renovation projects and can direct you to good local experts in roofing, septic tank installation, general building and form filling etc.

We are situated 35 miles from either Poitiers or Limoges airports.
